COULD SERIOUS SKI ACCIDENTS BE PREVENTED?

Father who Lost Daughter in Horrific Fall at Tahoe Resort
Spearheads Actions to Dramatically Improve Ski and Snowboard Safety

What: Major press conference to announce the launch of a statewide organization founded by a noted physician whose daughter was killed when she slipped to her death on icy terrain at a well-known Lake Tahoe ski resort. No warning signs or fences were posted – and to this day – there have been no dramatic changes in signage and no fencing exists.

Why: Currently, California ski resorts are not required to publicly release their ski and snowboard accident and death records and are under no requirement to establish uniform safety standards or follow any enforceable rules to guard against future mishaps. With a new winter season approaching, this caring physician father seeks to improve safety for all visiting families and sports enthusiasts and prevent future ski and snowboard tragedies from occurring. His organization includes prominent California board members, some of whose lives have changed dramatically due to ski-resort injuries and fatalities.

When: Monday, November 19, 10:00 a.m.

Where: California State Capitol, Room 1190

Who: Dan Gregorie, MD, MsM
Assembly Member Dave Jones (D-Sacramento)
